LIVE CALCULATOR

What's your effective processing rate?

Use total card volume and all processing-related fees from the same month.

Your effective processing rate
3.30%
Fees for every $10k processed$330
Monthly processing fees$990

An effective rate alone cannot tell you if you're overpaying.

Independent means you stay in control.

We do not process payments, represent a bank, or collect cardholder information. Our calculator is free. We may earn referral fees only if you later request and approve an introduction to a named provider.

STRAIGHTFORWARD PROCESS

Three steps to better clarity

We help you interpret the numbers before you decide whether changing anything is worthwhile.

01

Check your rate

Calculate total processing fees as a percentage of total card payments.

02

Understand the drivers

Look beyond the advertised percentage to markup, per-transaction and recurring charges.

03

Ask a question

Email a general fee question if you want help understanding your numbers. Individual responses depend on availability.

MADE FOR INDEPENDENT BUSINESSES

The price on a quote isn't always the total cost.

Transaction mix, card-not-present payments, business cards, average ticket size, chargebacks, optional equipment and monthly account charges can all affect processing expenses.

A single percentage doesn't tell the entire story. Review the fees in context and consider the features your business needs.

Frequently asked questions

Does a high effective rate automatically mean I'm overpaying?

No. Costs vary with card mix, average ticket size, industry, risk profile, payment channel and pricing arrangement. The rate is a useful starting point, not a conclusion.

Do I have to upload a processing statement?

No. Enter only your total card sales and total monthly fees. If you choose a personal review, a representative can explain which additional information—if any—is useful and how to share it securely.

Will switching processors save money?

Not necessarily. Savings depend on the merchant's needs, existing agreement, the actual offer and all relevant costs. There is no guaranteed saving.
